The Recovery Complex (TRC), located on the east side of I-65 Stansifer Avenue exit in Clark County just across the bridge from downtown Louisville, KY, is under construction. It will provide an oasis for those in and/or seeking recovery from substance abuse disorder. The approximately 10,500 square foot facility will feature meeting rooms available to rent for groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al Anon Family Groups, Alateen, Gamblers Anonymous or other recovery-focused groups. The planned cafe/eatery will generate revenue for TRC by being a gathering spot for fellowship before/after meetings. We plan to offer a generous selection of fresh, made-to-order sandwiches and entrees along with a wide variety of NA drinks, specialty coffees and teas with lots of TV’s to enjoy sporting events for whatever season we are in or just enjoy the company of friends. We will have one supersized, two-story space available to rent for wedding receptions, birthday parties, anniversaries or other alcohol-free events. The larger space will also be ideal for hosting recovery community New Years Eve/Super Bowl/March Madness/Derby parties/dances, cornhole/euchre tournaments, live acoustic music, small conferences or other family-friendly community events in need of the space we’ll offer.
Those of us in long term recovery know beyond a shadow of a doubt that living sober is way more fun than our old way of life. Our goal at The Recovery Complex is to share that way of life with others who want it for themselves and their families - to show them the light by sharing our experience, strength and hope.
Until around 2013 there was a place called The Jeffersonville Token Club not too far from where The Recovery Complex now sits. The “Jeff Token” as it was affectionately called was established in 1981 by a group of AA members who wanted a centralized place for AA meetings and fellowship. Over the years thousands passed through the doors of the Jeff Token. Many discovered sobriety and a new way of life. In the mid 2000’s we found out the I-65 Bridges Project would need the Jeff Token property for the new bridge.
At that time there were about 30 twelve-step meetings being hosted there every week. Those meetings were displaced and had to find new homes. The smaller meetings simply didn’t survive. With funds on hand, construction had started on The Recovery Complex building prior to Jeff Token’s closing; however, it was never finished.

A renewed effort to finish The Recovery Complex that began in 2019 has brought us to where we are now. Most of us spearheading this effort got sober at the old Jeff Token Club. We are passionate about seeing this project through so new people have a place to come if they want help - just like the Jeff Token Club was there for us when we wanted help. We are all volunteers. All the content on this website - as you can probably tell - was not created by some high dollar marketing outfit. So In Media Group has been kind enough to provide their web design services at a discount but we’ve provided them all the content. We’re trying to be thrifty so while it’s authentic it’s not as polished as it could be.
Scott Welch, President of AML Construction, has already given much of his time and talent in helping us to develop a budget of what it’s going to cost to finish the building and has volunteered to oversee construction at no cost. The Ogle Foundation has provided immense help, guidance and direction to the board of Serenity, Inc. and has given us our largest financial commitment - a $400,000 matching grant - to fund the project. The Clark County Commissioners, Jeffersonville City Council and Clarksville Town Council have also given substantial funding from monies they were awarded from The National Opioid Settlement to go towards completing The Recovery Complex.
NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! PLEASE DONATE GENEROUSLY by clicking below. We welcome any and all inquiries. Thank you!
